Why is the dark web dangerous?
Actually, the Internet we use is called Surface Web or Open Web. This is only 4 percent of the total internet, the remaining 96 percent of the internet is dark web. The Dark Web is an encrypted part of the Internet that is not visible to the general public. It cannot be accessed from search engines like Google and Yahoo. Khushal Kaushik, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lisianthus Tech, said that the study is based on a detailed analysis of several cyber crime cases registered across the country.
He said that this study is based on information collected over a period of two months. Kaushik said that recently a person was arrested for growing ganja in a rented flat and selling it through the dark web. Last year, attackers also used the dark web for ransomware attacks on the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
Gurugram-based Lisianthus Tech does cyber security audit and security assessment work. According to the report, the use of the dark web has doubled in the last decade. To avoid falling victim to this, users should not allow any online notification asking for access to the app on their phones and other devices.
